Parent Lead Organizers

Parent Lead Organizers or PLO are parents and community members who are taking on an expanded role in improving education and community engagement in the Revere school district and devoting extra time for an elevated leadership role in WEE's organizing activities. The group meets twice a week to discuss ways to create a good family engagement policy for Revere Public Schools and they also plan to work on a handbook for parents that proved to be successful in other communities. The group currently represents around 100 parents in Revere with children in  public schools across the city and in various grade levels.

Our Parent Lead Organizers (PLOs) have been working on a project that aims to strengthen school-family relationships, facilitate parent participation in schools, and increase family leadership opportunities in schools to ultimately benefit student learning in our Revere Public Schools. They understand the relationship between family engagement and student learning and strive to overcome obstacles for active parent participation in their childrens’ school experiences. Our PLOs are mostly composed of parents from immigrant and refugee families in Revere.

Behind every successful student is not only a good teacher and school, but also an active and engaged parent.
